French watchmaker March LA.B continues its tradition of commemorating the month of March with the introduction of its latest annual limited edition, the AM2 Nyctalope Carbon Millésime March 2026. This release builds upon the brand's signature AM2 collection, known for its distinctive octagonal case and 1970s design influences. The new model showcases a unique forged carbon case and a striking green dial, distinguished by its powerful Super-LumiNova illumination, embodying a blend of robust construction and vibrant aesthetics.
Established in 2009 by three friends sharing a passion for surfing and vintage aesthetics, March LA.B draws its name's 'LA.B' component from designer Jérôme Mage's Los Angeles base and Biarritz, the residence of CEO Alain Marhic and financial advisor Joseph Châtel. The brand's foundational AM1, which later evolved into the AM2, first appeared in 2011, taking cues from iconic American muscle cars like the Shelby Cobra and Ford Mustang. The AM2, available in both 39mm and 36mm sizes, offers a range of complications including three hands with date, GMT, and calendar functions, all unified by its angular octagonal case and strong 1970s stylistic direction.
The current iteration features a bold 38mm octagonal case, crafted from forged carbon fiber, measuring 12.8mm in thickness. This construction method involves compressing randomly oriented carbon fiber strands with resin under high heat and pressure, resulting in a unique marbled pattern, superior strength, and enhanced impact resistance. Notably, this model incorporates green strands within the carbon fiber, reflecting the brand's affinity for the color green. A large, recessed, knurled crown is positioned at 4 o’clock, and the watch maintains a substantial 100-meter water resistance. While the intricate finishes of previous steel and titanium models are forgone, the forged carbon fiber offers a distinct, mottled, and matte aesthetic.
The dial of the AM2 Nyctalope Carbon Millésime March 2026 is presented in a deep green hue, featuring a textured octagonal center that mirrors the "armored" pattern found on the jacquard textile straps. A framed date window at 6 o’clock prominently displays a bright green '3' against a black background. Characteristic bar-shaped indices are arranged in various orientations—horizontal, vertical, or slanted—further defining the dial's unique layout. The term "nyctalope," while referring to night blindness in English, denotes the ability to see in the dark in French, a quality reflected in the watch's exceptional luminescence. Solid blocks of Super-LumiNova are used for the double-bar indices and peripheral circular markers, providing a strong green glow in low-light conditions. The tuning fork-shaped hour and minute hands also incorporate a thinner streak of SLN, ensuring clear readability.
The watch's sapphire crystal case back, tinted green and shaped like a porthole, offers a view of the automatic La Joux-Perret G100 caliber. This movement features an openworked rotor, boasts a robust 68-hour power reserve, and operates at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour. The AM2 Nyctalope Carbon Millésime March 2026 is a limited edition of 169 pieces and is priced at EUR 2,495 (including tax). It comes with two interchangeable jacquard-woven straps by Julien Faure: a black strap with a titanium buckle and a green-and-black strap with a black PVD steel buckle, offering versatility in style.
This special edition watch embodies March LA.B's commitment to distinctive design and quality craftsmanship, blending vintage inspiration with modern materials. The combination of forged carbon, vibrant green accents, and superior luminescence makes it a notable addition to the brand's annual Millésime series. Each detail, from the unique case material to the luminous dial elements, contributes to a timepiece that is both visually striking and functionally robust.
