Following Medley in the voting was Olentangy Berlin basketball player Kelsey Grubbs, who captured 28% of the votes. Other notable nominees included Gahanna swimmer Alexa Briseno, Upper Arlington swimmer Kiera Powers, and Worthington Kilbourne swimmer Abi Goodrich, all of whom showcased impressive athletic prowess in their fields.
Kelsey Grubbs delivered a record-breaking performance for her school, scoring 31 points and grabbing 10 rebounds against Hilliard Davidson. She also set a new school record with 19 rebounds and contributed 13 points in a game against Unioto, illustrating her significant impact on the basketball court.
Alexa Briseno from Gahanna demonstrated her aquatic excellence at the OCC-Ohio championship, winning both the 50-yard freestyle and the 100 backstroke. She further contributed to her team's success by anchoring the winning 200 free and 400 free relays, highlighting her versatility and crucial role in the team's triumphs.
Kiera Powers of Upper Arlington also shone in the pool, claiming victories in the 200 IM and 500 freestyle at the OCC-Central championship. Her leadership was evident as she led off the winning 200 and 400 free relays, proving instrumental in her team's relay successes.
Abi Goodrich, a swimmer from Worthington Kilbourne, made her mark at the OCC-Capital meet by winning the 50 free and 100 back. She also played a vital role in her team's relay victories, leading off the winning 200 free relay and anchoring another first-place relay. These achievements underscore her competitive spirit and skill in swimming.
