Godox Unveils New SKIIIV Series Entry-Level Studio Strobes

Instructions

Godox has recently introduced its innovative SKIIIV Series, a line of entry-level studio flash monolights specifically engineered for use in small to medium photographic environments. These new models, designated as the SK300III-V and SK400III-V, are offered in 300Ws and 400Ws output variations, respectively. They are designed to provide photographers with dependable power delivery and intuitive operational control, all at a competitive price point, making professional studio lighting more accessible.

The SKIIIV Series features an enhanced rear control panel equipped with an intuitive LCD display for clear visibility of settings. Photographers can achieve remarkable precision with power adjustments, thanks to the ±0.1-stop accuracy. A convenient three-second auto memory function ensures that all settings are retained even after the unit is powered off and on again, streamlining workflow. Both models are fitted with a 10W LED modeling lamp that offers dimming capabilities, enabling users to accurately visualize their lighting setup before capturing an image. Furthermore, an integrated 2.4 GHz wireless system provides compatibility with the extensive Godox X System, allowing for remote triggering and fine-tuning of power levels via optional transmitters. The inclusion of a Bowens S-type mount guarantees broad compatibility with an array of light modifiers from both Godox and other manufacturers, offering immense flexibility in creative lighting.

The SK300III-V unit, with its 300Ws output, boasts a guide number of 190 feet and a consistent color temperature of 5700K ±200K. It offers rapid recycling times, ranging from 0.1 to 1.5 seconds, and a flash duration between 1/200 and 1/380s. Power settings are adjustable from 1/32 to full output, with granular control in tenth-stop increments for meticulous exposure management. Weighing approximately 4.6 pounds, the SK300III-V is an ideal portable choice for portrait photography, detailed tabletop setups, and product imaging in compact studio settings. Its versatility is further enhanced by multiple triggering options, including a sync cord, an optical slave mode, a test button, and the aforementioned 2.4 GHz wireless control. A 3.5mm sync port also allows for connectivity with third-party triggers.

Stepping up in power, the SK400III-V delivers an impressive 400Ws output, achieving a guide number of 213 feet. It maintains the same precise 5700K ±200K color temperature and efficient 0.1 to 1.5-second recycling time as its 300Ws counterpart. However, its flash duration is slightly different, ranging from 1/170 to 1/260s, reflecting its increased power capacity. This model also provides a 1/32 to full power range with ±0.1-stop accuracy, a dimmable 10W LED modeling lamp, and comprehensive triggering options, including optical and 2.4 GHz wireless control. At approximately 5 pounds, the SK400III-V is similarly equipped with the Bowens S mount, ensuring broad modifier compatibility and making it suitable for a wider range of studio lighting scenarios, particularly those requiring more illumination.

The SK300III-V is priced at an accessible $149, while the more powerful SK400III-V is available for $179. Both monolights can be purchased individually or as part of convenient two-light and three-light kit configurations. Godox notes that regional pricing may fluctuate due to variations in VAT and local tax regulations, and the cost of kits will depend on the included accessories and distribution channels. These new offerings underscore Godox's commitment to providing high-quality, flexible, and affordable lighting solutions for photographers at all levels.
