During the planning stages for an urban park situated near the coastal area of Praia Norte, within Viana do Castelo, an architectural firm was commissioned to conceive a compact chapel. The designated site already housed a modest, glass-fronted oratory, which had been erected by local inhabitants. Initially, there were intentions to dismantle this existing structure. However, recognizing the profound emotional bond the community shared with this space, particularly due to their veneration of Saint Peter, who is revered as the patron saint of fishermen, it became undeniably clear that safeguarding its profound symbolic value was paramount to the project's success and acceptance.
