At the LVMH Watch Week 2026 event in Milan, TAG Heuer proudly presented its latest creation, the Carrera Seafarer Chronograph. This new timepiece pays homage to the brand's historical connection with maritime navigation, offering a sophisticated blend of traditional design and modern horological advancements. Following a limited-edition release last year, this model, featuring the distinctive Carrera Glassbox design and an innovative tide indicator complication, now joins TAG Heuer's permanent collection, equipped with the state-of-the-art TH20-04 automatic calibre.
The watch boasts a 42mm stainless steel casing, embodying the refined 'Glassbox' aesthetic of the Carrera series. Its defining characteristic is a domed sapphire crystal, which, combined with a bezel-less construction, significantly enhances readability. The overall dimensions include a lug-to-lug distance of 48.6mm and a thickness of 14.4mm. The case exhibits a meticulous combination of brushed and polished finishes, aligning with the technical elegance synonymous with the Carrera lineage, while also providing enhanced resistance suited for marine environments. A unique "TIDE" pusher located at 9 o'clock allows for adjustment of the rotating tide disc, alongside the conventional chronograph pushers at 2 and 4 o'clock. The robust design is completed with a screw-down sapphire caseback adorned with TAG Heuer's Victory Wreath emblem, ensuring water resistance up to 100 meters.
The dial features a champagne opaline finish, creating a warm and inviting backdrop for the intricate nautical indicators. A beige flange encircles the dial, marked with 60-second and minute scales in 5-minute increments. The layout includes three recessed sub-dials: a 30-minute chronograph counter at 3 o'clock, a continuous seconds sub-dial integrated with a date window at 6 o'clock, and a tide indicator at 9 o'clock, distinguished by its alternating teal-blue and yellow segments. These color choices are a tribute to the original 1960s Seafarer and the 'Intrepid Teal' hue, inspired by the yacht that clinched the 1967 America's Cup. The gold-plated hands, faceted and filled with teal Super-LumiNova, guarantee excellent visibility in all lighting conditions. The applied hour markers and the central chronograph seconds hand are also gold-plated and polished, adding to the watch's luxurious appeal.
At the heart of the Carrera Seafarer is the in-house Calibre TH20-04, an advanced iteration of TAG Heuer's integrated automatic chronographs. This movement incorporates a column wheel and vertical clutch mechanism, ensuring precise pusher feedback and seamless engagement. The unique tide mechanism, meticulously calibrated to the lunar cycle, completes a full rotation every 29.53 days. Operating at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour, the movement delivers a substantial 80-hour power reserve, with automatic winding facilitated by a rotor shaped like the iconic TAG Heuer shield.
The Carrera Seafarer is offered with TAG Heuer's distinct seven-row 'beads of rice' stainless steel bracelet, a contemporary update to the brand's vintage design, featuring a mix of brushed and polished links. For added versatility, an extra beige sports strap with teal lining and a steel folding clasp is included, allowing wearers to customize their look.
Scheduled for global release in March 2026, the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Seafarer will be available at a price of CHF 8,300, offering enthusiasts a chance to own a piece of maritime history reimagined with modern precision and style. This release underscores TAG Heuer's enduring legacy in precision timekeeping and its innovative approach to horological design, bridging the gap between historical significance and contemporary luxury.
