The journey of a student-athlete reaching their academic and athletic goals is often marked by significant milestones. For Karl Behm, a senior at South Prairie-Max High School, one such milestone was signing his National Letter of Intent (NLI) to join the Falcons football team at Concordia University of Wisconsin this fall. This decision not only signifies the continuation of his football career but also sets the stage for his academic pursuits in pre-chiropractic studies. The excitement and anticipation surrounding this moment are shared by his family, who have been instrumental in supporting him throughout the process.
Behm's commitment to Concordia University of Wisconsin represents the culmination of years of dedication to both academics and athletics. His choice to attend Concordia was influenced by several factors, including the university's strong football program and its supportive environment. The linebacker room at Concordia particularly caught his attention, offering him a chance to compete for playing time right from the start as a true freshman. "I am thrilled about the opportunity to continue my education while playing football," Behm expressed. "The campus atmosphere and the people I met made me feel welcomed and excited about the future."
Beyond football, Behm has clear academic aspirations. He has always had a passion for science, which led him to choose a pre-chiropractic undergraduate degree. After completing his four-year undergraduate studies, he plans to pursue a three-year graduate program in chiropractic care. "While it's a long road ahead with seven more years of schooling, I'm committed to achieving my goals," he said. Whether he eventually establishes a practice in South Prairie or elsewhere remains to be seen, but for now, his focus is on excelling at Concordia.
The path to being recruited by Concordia began with networking opportunities. Behm attended a football combine camp at North Dakota State University, where Concordia's coaching staff took notice of his talents. From there, the recruiting process accelerated, leading to his eventual commitment. "It all started at that camp," Behm recalled. "Meeting the coaches and showing what I could do on the field opened doors for me."
As Behm prepares for his new chapter, his family is ready to support him every step of the way. With his younger brother Jameson also involved in sports, the family will be traveling frequently to cheer for both brothers—one playing for the Royals and the other for the Falcons. "We're excited but also bracing ourselves for a busy travel schedule," said Amynda Behm, Karl's mother. "It's going to be an adventure, and we wouldn't have it any other way."
The coming months promise to be filled with new experiences for Karl Behm as he transitions into college life and begins his journey toward becoming both a successful athlete and a skilled professional. His determination and the support of his family will undoubtedly play crucial roles in helping him achieve his dreams.
